Facilitation of Green Enterprises

We empower women, youth, and disadvantaged communities by facilitating green enterprises. To curb the unregulated felling of trees for firewood and charcoal production—major risk factors for biodiversity loss—we introduce alternative livelihoods to support communities’ daily energy needs, thereby reducing reliance on forestry products. These initiatives promote sustainable livelihoods and environmental conservation, including:

Basket Weaving: Supporting the creation and marketing of eco-friendly baskets, utilizing sustainable materials and traditional techniques.

Shea Butter Production: Facilitating the production and commercialization of shea butter, providing training on sustainable harvesting and processing methods.

Efficient Save Cook Stoves: Promoting the use of energy-efficient cook stoves to reduce reliance on firewood and charcoal, decreasing deforestation and improving health outcomes.

Briquettes Production: Encouraging the production of eco-friendly briquettes as an alternative to traditional charcoal, reducing environmental impact and providing a sustainable income source.

Bamboo Cultivation and Processing: Promoting the cultivation and utilization of bamboo for various products, including furniture, construction materials, and handicrafts, to provide sustainable income opportunities.

Renewable Energy Solutions: Implementing solar-powered solutions, biogas, and other renewable energy technologies to improve access to sustainable energy in rural communities.

Vocational Training and Business Development: Offering training programs to equip individuals with the skills needed to start and grow green enterprises, including business planning, marketing, and financial management.

By supporting these green enterprises, MORE Women fosters economic empowerment and environmental stewardship, helping communities build resilient and sustainable livelihoods.
