Support for rural Education (SURE GHANA)

One of MORE Women’s key focus areas is the “Support for Rural Education” (SURE Ghana) initiative. This program is dedicated to facilitating the development of educational infrastructure, providing furniture, teaching and learning materials, and offering technical training for facilitators and communities in rural Ghana. We are particularly passionate about promoting girl-child education and fostering interest in STEMS (Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics, and Sustainability). To ensure effective program development and delivery, SURE Ghana is divided into three primary areas:

  1. Improving Access to Infrastructure and Technology

We aim to narrow the gap in accessing quality education in rural Ghana by providing essential school infrastructure, Teaching and Learning Materials (TLMs), potable water, and appropriate technology. Our efforts focus on creating an environment conducive to learning, ensuring that students have the necessary resources to succeed.

  1. Enhancing Teacher Capacity

We identify and support the scaling-up of innovative solutions to enhance the quality, relevance, and effectiveness of initial and continuous teacher professional development. Our focus areas include pedagogy for foundational learning, green skills, digital skills, and gender-transformative pedagogy. By improving the competence, motivation, and inclusivity of the teacher workforce, we aim to improve learning outcomes and the socio-emotional development of children in rural Ghana.

  1. Promoting the Education of Girl-Child and Disadvantaged Children

We are committed to promoting girl-child education by providing essential resources such as sanitary pads and creating supportive learning environments. Our initiatives aim to remove barriers to education for girls, fostering their growth and interest in STEMS, and ensuring they have equal opportunities to succeed.

Through the SURE Ghana initiative, MORE Women is dedicated to transforming educational opportunities in rural Ghana, empowering the next generation with the skills and knowledge they need to lead sustainable development.
